Permanent Vacation Posted by Nikole H. on Mar 08, 2009
Well, hello AGAIN!
I know I have been MIA for quite some time and see that there are so many new faces in the group. Glad to see things are doing well here on P&S. I feel as though I have been on permanent vacation with the move from Hawaii to Singapore. I've gone from one paradise to another. I feel so lucky to be living in a country so rich with art and surprisingly children's theater and puppetry! I just ended a weekend full of puppetry here and was left feeling so inspired. I hope to be able to show something new and exciting soon. It has been a long while since I have felt creative. Most of the time I have just been lazy and sitting by the pool. Sorry to rub that in for those who are experiencing snow...ha ha ha.
So, I am now going to limit my lazy days and start getting creative again. I am so lucky to be living in the country that has a long history with the art of puppetry. I was so excited to see one of my "idols" in shadow puppetry, Richard Bradshaw, this weekend. I came out with the biggest thought after seeing his performance and other brilliant troupes to K.I.S.S. which I lovingly call, Keep It Simple Stupid. I find myself previously making things too difficult and now have to think more simplistic. I have learned over the weekend that even though something may look very intricate and complex, most of the time it is not. I need to remember that this art is theater and theater is made up of smoke and mirrors. There are tricks to everything to fool the eye and senses. So now I am just going to have some fun and hopefully be more active again with this wonderful forum that I have missed so much.
I didn't realize how much I missed all of you here but my vacation is coming to a close and I need to "work" again. I'll try not to be so lazy. :D
Aloha!
Nikole
I'm still keeping my Hawaiian alive with my Aloha.

I have a TON of pictures and have been quite addicted to facebook lately. If you want to be my "friend" on facebook and see what I have been up to, just send me a message! But I will try to post some pictures on here, too. Every weekend we are going sightseeing and finding new and amazing things. The food alone is exciting to take pictures of and TO EAT!!! :D
