Another table-top puppet Posted by Na on Mar 18, 2009
This is sort of a table-top puppet/bunraku pattern. I really like this design, it's an ideal make-at-home pattern, good for kids and adults alike. I'm thinking of offering a kit for it, and/or a class.

Please people test it out for me! I'm not 100% convinced the instructions are clear. Download the patterns here:

There's two videos that go with it

Hey, those are cool!! An awesome rainy-day activity for the kids (and, of course, me). If only I could fold paper as fast as that...

I could see ribbon being used for the limbs and neck just to prevent tearing and to increase flexibility.

I could also see gluing popsicle sticks onto the hands and having an all-out kung-fu swordfight battle! Hiya!

Thanks!

I like the idea of ribbon. I have to say though that the neck and limbs hold up really well. The idea is that movements are gentle, there's no real need for roughness, but yes, sturdier materials could be exchanged easily.

Haha, I love the idea of a kungfu battle! I'm definitely going to have to try that now!

I especially like how you describe what you discovered through trial and error!  Helps us to know why things are done!  THANKS for sharing!

  Thank you!

LJ, I'm glad you like the trial and error stuff. That was an unintentional edit, but you're right it does help people understand the processes a little better. Reminder: next time make the video *after* you test the puppet properly. :P
