Step by step! (Monkey puppet) project! Posted by miguel on Mar 26, 2009
Hi, guys! As you know (I guess everybody here feel the same way), since I start again my love for puppets (To have them as to build them) i cannot stop to think in create one every week (I have 3 more still working on them, almost finish). Has become my hobby, every time I got home after work (Of course, reading is number one. I like to read, most the Bible, History books, commentaries, etc. and study them), but designing and building puppets is a dream that I have since I was child (Make me feel and to be a child, I like it).

That's why like many of you, I decided to post pics, from a new project puppet I'm doing. Any advice will be great (Help me to do it better from the best). This puppet is the avatar that Steve have (Confused Monkey), that Mr. Sorrel allow me to turn it onto a puppet. The pattern is a design from me (I did it).

Any idea, suggestions, help, comment are welcome

Thanks again, Miguel

I love all things primate, love the start of this project and will be watching it closely! I'm even surprised at how much I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Incidentally (and I may start a separate thread topic on this but...)What made you choose to put the hand through the back, instead of up from the bottom. Both are perfectly valid and I can see different puppet theaters and applications need different things but I've started a project that I'm struggling to decide upon the hand position... Yep separate thread needed I think...
Love the monkey!

Thanks Scoob!

Well, the hole in that position is because its feel more comfortable for me to move (The mouth, mainly the head) all the way the head, so my hand don't get tired so fast.

Everything looks goog so far.  your head positioning is similar to what Jay (aka DR Puppet) used for his David Tennant puppet.  I can't wait to see how he takes shape.

Keep us up on that puppet. It's always fun to see the creation process.

Oooh interesting start and what might be an brilliant looking puppet!

I can understand the positioning of the hand-hole (golly what a word!) since I see most primates not having an overly straight back and I expect them to hunch over slightly - maybe that could be incorporated?
