three puppets Posted by LJ on Apr 07, 2009
I can't believe that I am actually posting in the "puppets made" portion of this forum, but I actually made three glorified sock puppets and wanted to share! This should be a motivation to any of you out there who don't think they can make puppets - if LJ can do it so can you!! I can't wait to let my puppet team use them on Sunday!! We are doing a monster theme and did not have enough monster type puppets so I had to make them! Now I have fur all over my house and can't wait to make more!!

So Cooooool................ This is great LJ now you can whip up a puppet when ever you like. Will you be selling these puppets with your books? or at least offer it as a special order option.

Thanks for the comments! Actually I have some fur that I want to make a goat puppet and a cow puppet with so I will show those as soon as I create them - Those will take a bit more thought than the monsters. I was thinking of selling them if I can create a cow and goat that I like! I am open to suggestions on how to make the cow and goat using the glorified sock pattern!

Nice stuff! I like their diversity, not just repeats.
On the middle one, what did you use for hair? I like her individual ringlets. With the other two did you point the nap of the fur a particular way? They seem to have body to their hair.
If you are itching to do more (it might be all that faux fur around the house) it's a good sign that you're getting comfortable with your techniques! It's a great place to be in, you can attack a project with gusto! The fact that you are looking to add new challenges while in that zone (that could tempt others to complacency) bodes well for a growth in your potential! I'll look forward to seeing more.

Adorable little monsters. (that's what people say about my kids) I love how while they are similar in type they are also unique in how you gave cariety in color and accessories. Your puppet ministry in going to love them.

Nice job. Makes me want to get one of their patterns once I have the money.
And sadly, the mention of a goat puppet makes me think of the need of a Chupacabra puppet.

Thanks everyone! The orange hair is actually a hair piece I bought at the dollar store. I have them in all colors - when I saw them at the Dollar Tree I thought they would make good puppet hair. They came with black combs attached but I carefully removed the comb in order to glue it on the the head of the puppet.
The blue fur is just twisted around and glued on. The green hair is actually part of a tube-type scarf I found at the dollar store - I cut a section off and then put a bit of stuffing inside the tube and then just glued it on the head.
