Thanks for all you're feedback, I've moved on from worrying about the eyes really
I will experiment with bringing eyes closer together in future to get a more human look but really a lot of animals, rabbits included have eyes on the side of their heads.
An "unusual" angle. I just wanted to get a picture of having lined him with satin, like you do for a coat, to make him easier to put on as his body is so small, (made for a child) It's a nice touch and I think I'll be doing it for all my puppets from now on.
Before Easter I had started another rabbit which was intended to be much more complicated in order to teach me more about "draping" (cutting and sewing fabric to a custom 3d shape) When I thought about the approaching event and decided to make a simpler rabbi or my daughter I put the bigger bunny on hold.
Well I've had a chance to return to him this week and have some pictures to share of him underway...
Yeah he's a bit like Yoda at the moment, but the ears aren't glued yet so I'll try and get them more verticle. Teeth aren't attached yet either but there is a piece of foam in his mouth at the moment (don't really like them yet)
Eyes are just mock ups and yep they are wide 'cos I wanted to buid the bridge of his nose/skull up like a real rabbit.
His nos is just a scrap of foam at the moment, it will go on after the fur...
The body is an experiment too, my own pattern devised to try and give a little belly. It's a little narrow across the shoulders but I may fix that yet.
His ears aren't finished either (besides glueing onto the head). They have a track cut around the edge to put wire in to be able to pose them. I have to glue the edges down to give a nice sharp knife edge.
Basically pretty happy with the foam sculpt of his head so far...
I got some fireline (smoke coloured fishing line) to day for rigging up the second hand (a la Daryls blog tv tutorial) amazed at how fine it is and will rig up a puppet soon I hope.

I like the third one too, but the first one make it looks like rabbit (The 3rd is more like human cartoon)In the meantime I promised more photos, I have a lot but thought they repeat somewhat so I've just uploaded a couple...

Nice job with this 2nd rabbit. You're right, it does look kind of like Yoda. Makes me think of what it would be like if 30 second bunnies did Star Wars (which I'm not completely sure they haven't).

Steve,
Are the added features built on top of the basic round head? Can we see inside how the mouth plate was done if you added on the "muzzle". He is looking great.
I assume you have already glued on the additional pieces of the face but I wanted to give an idea to make it easier to drape the puppet. Perhaps it can be used on future projects. Instead of gluing the section on cover the base round head (if that is what you used) with your fleece and then cover the pieces individually. Then hand stitch your pieces onto the covered base. Now depending on how you did the muzzle it might not work for those sections but it could be easier to cover even the base with those glued on using slight modifications to the original fabric cover pattern. This is not necessarily a better method just a different approach that I have used in the past. My Luxor dragon was made that way.

Looks fantastic Steve! And I definitely agree that the third eye placement option looks the best, not only in friendliness but in focus and also looks 10x more professionally made.
Keep up the great work!

By the way: What kind of fabric are you using for the rabbit?

Nice bunny scubasteve! Are the eyes made of a foam ball that you can put so many pins into it?
