Be careful what you order on that Amazon page.
It is screwed up with some poetry book showing up underneath the main links for Hardcover and Paperback.
Don't order the wrong one by accident!
Even the comments show comments for both the soft shapes book and the poetry book mixed together.

The Complete Book of Stuffedwork - wouldn't you know it, the local university has a copy! Thanks for the reference, Cruppetman!! I think I'll test drive it first before investing in Amazon.com. Used book sellers always gouge me for shipping to Canada.
Art of Manipulating Fabric - this time it's the local public library! I'm lucking out here. Thanks, Yesterdog!
I wish I could have a day on some fancy CAD software. Many have an "unwrapping" feature that will work backwards from a 3D shape to a 2D cut pattern. I'd make a ball, an egg, a horn, a head, a nose, a whole bunch of basic shapes and then I'd have enough to put together almost any creature out of those building blocks. But, alas, I can't justify the cost!

I got my book today. It is a great book for quilting and soft sculpture. It does teach how to take basic shapes and apply them to dolls and soft sculpts. I can see how this would help when trying to design a puppet pattern. Thanks again for the book tip !!
