Here's my first effort with Crazy Talk 5.

As Matt said, this has to be one of the easiest applications ever.
I used one jpg of Papaw which the program turned into a live creature. Another jpg for the background. One mp3 file for Papaw's voice, and another mp3 for the background music. I had to make a matt, in order to block out the original background, in essence making a blue screen effect. That was easily done within the program. Matting out the background was easily the most time intensive part of the process. The rest went very quickly.
There should be lots of ways to play with this.

I'm generally not a fan of "auto-talk" software - the results always looks a little creepy to me - but I have to admit that this looks much, much better than most of what I've seen. Is there a way to manually override the automatic lip sync so you can fine-tune it manually?

Yes you can. It puts movements into tracks (like video editing software) and you can delete them then add in different mouth moments.
