Daryl, that was great! I should have gone to bed two hours ago . . . It was worth every minute. I'm looking forward to next week.

Tonight went pretty well. Somehow it seemed kind of like the first night of a Continuing Education class, except no Syllabus. He even let us out early!
But seriously, it was fun. I'll be looking forward to next week.

I did want to congratulate you Daryl. You did excellent with staying focused as all the questions were coming at you all at once. You were great with keeping up while discussing things at hand. For anyone that did not make it I highly recommend these sessions every Thursday Night. We covered a lot of good information and Daryl makes a good Host and Instructor.

Thanks all for the complements....I was stressing about where to go with this, but things worked out and people were asking some good questions.
I could only record about 10 minutes per blog night so I only captured 10 minutes (introductory) on eyes then I was cut off. I don't think it was the best ten minutes but you get a little taste of what we covered. I want to thank everyone who participated tonight and planning on doing it next Thursday at 6PM same place. I would like to invite others to come and speak with us on different area's of puppets. Maybe we can get Shawn to come and talk about marionettes and do some mini tutorials or hints. We have many talented puppeteer makers in this forum who I would love to ask to come for teaching us your talents. It really is easy to sign up and get involved and you don't need a camera just the ability to type words or watch it and pick up hints.
If anyone has a working camera I would love you do join me in video as to make an ongoing dialogue....but you don't have to.
I think next week we may limit to less time.....but we will see. I was pretty tired by the end. It was great to see people add on what they do and use in area's on making puppets.
Here is the introductory video bit on eyes....

I signed in but I hope that I can watch on the life broadcast. I don't what the difference in time is. I know in Boston is it 6 hours earlier that here in Holland. Thursday was yesterday, so next time. Can somebody tell me if the California time is the same time as on puppets and stuff or what the difference is with the time on puppets and stuff.
And I hope I can follow the technical words you use............... hopefully I can understand it because you shows what you are doing.

Pacific or California time, is 3 hours behind Eastern time or in boston. so if it daryl starts at 1800 hours his time it is 2100 hours in boston.

You did an excellent job Daryl! I really hate that I had to miss the "real" thing.

I took some basic notes of what was discussed Thursday April 16, 2009
Daryl took us on tour of his Puppet Studio, he discussed the studio layout, storage, and work areas. He then discussed the different tools that he uses with in the work area ( He had some essential tools that are needed in puppet building) He then discussed basic supplies that he uses and the proper way to store them. He also introduced to us proper lighting / and different type lighting he uses.
Daryl then started a discussion on " Eyes " What types of eyes and materials that can be used to create great looking Muppet style eyes.
( interesting thing was his use for plastic bottle caps. ) The topic was more than interesting.
Then the next topic was about " Noses " . Now this was a nosy topic. He shared all his secrets of materials suited to make anything thing from a flat nose to a runny nose.
He then showed us a variety of puppets that he had made using boxes and other things found around the house. It is true puppetry is imagination.
Well this is just a basic idea of what was discussed. If you have any questions contact Daryl or Tune in next Thursday April 26, 2009 for our next group discussion. I would like to Thank Daryl again for putting this together. We have tried group participation in the past and it was not successful. It looks like this group meeting went well and can't wait for the next one.
