I'm unsure how well the software truly works for webcam stuff, but there is Free Screen Video Capture by Topviewsoft. I've only used it for a few things, but it does at least have an option to only record a specific section of your screen and does record audio. It worked well for what I use it for, but not sure for this... It unfortunately is also a RAM hog. Also, it took 2 or 3 tries for a code to actually be emailed to me.
To make it easier for my part on Thursday, I'm planning to set up my cheap digital camcorder beside my webcam to make sure I can record the whole thing.

One word WebcamMax.  It is $50.00 but well worth the price.  This is more for Daryl, then everyone else.  This program would allow you to do an alot of things in your webcast and you could record the entire thing on to your local computer then edit it before you uploaded it to your YouTube account.  Now it won't record others that may join in via the BlogTv account but I think it might still be worth you getting it.

Screen Hunter  is a screen capture software that I use. It has a Free, Plus and Pro version.  I use an older free version.  While screen capture software could be used, I am not sure if it is a the best tool for this.

Thanks Shawn I was looking at that software and thought that would be the next step.....right now I want to see how it goes and see what people like and don't and hopefully keep building it before I get to fancy.  Though I am trying to figure out how some can get two screens fair size side by side to talk to each other......that I feel would be a great feature instead of the PIP that is available right now.....if you or anyone know how they do it or what program I need to make it happen please let me....that might be the first purchase.

Thanks Wambat I will record it in 10 minute sequences if you are alright with that I want to start building the video library.  I am going to do the same with my mini work shop.

I can't wait for Thursday night.

Vegas Pro 8 is the only thing I can think of that edits videos so you can have two screens side-by-side. I've only had limited use of it though, and have no idea if it does screen capture too. It's also rather expensive.

I hope that you come out and even watch if you don't have things together yet and get a feel for the site and what is it capable of.  The camera and all is pretty easy to set up.  I like this site because you just plug and play. I would love for you to host a mini workshop it is great to do it live (as Billy said) people can ask questions, this is what I like about the live thing you get immediate feedback.  Let me know when you are ready to go live.....I will add you.

Thanks! I'll definitely be there this week, but will probably just watch and get the hang of things. Once I'm comfortable with how to use the site I'll get back to you about hosting a mini workshop. It's probably better than diving right in, and I can get a better idea of how I can set myself up to do it (and this also gives me a chance to clear some space in my 'workshop' area   )

Having two screens side by side is going to depend more on the web service you use instead of a program you would buy.  I have not delved deep enough into the BlogTV to know for sure if they have the feature.  Maybe one day this week Daryl and I can get on our accounts and see if we can get it to work.
Re: A live how to make/resource to puppetry...... Posted by StiqPuppet Productions on Apr 21, 2009
That would be great Shawn if we can hook up and try things out......I have seen other people on the site with it (recorded already) so I couldn't ask them while live how they are doing it.....but it might be an option that many don't bother to use.  I guess tomorrow unless you are up late tonight to work with it.

That sounds fine Na.....I totally get that you want to check it out first and then jump in.

I was just in the middle of updating my images on my website, and was wondering... would anyone like to take a live tour of my lego city? (Pic below) I've been meaning to update my website with a 'behind the scenes' look at, literally, the back of the set piece. I could show you how all of it works, the mechanisms that run it, etc. I've got quite a lengthy set of blog posts on my site about how it's all put together, but nothing on the actual mechanisms themselves. Anyway, let me know if you do!

Yes Bhanu.....we are ready to go tonight at the same time as last week (Thursday 6PM PST or 9PM EST at http://www.blogtv.com/people/StiqpuppetsLive).  I hope to see more out tonight.....don't be shy about "Subscribing" (signing up takes less than 5 minutes) this will remind you when the shows starts and other small perks during the show.  We supposedly had 185 viewers (by my stats on my page) however we didn't see them in our room they were only watching at other pages.

YOU DO NOT NEED a camera to watch the show all you need (if you choose) to say anything is a keyboard to type away and add comments or ask questions.  Watching quietly is welcomed.

I have developed a small agenda for tonight......we will take on the spot suggestions as we go. However if you make suggestions ahead of time we may be able to get things ready to show more of the process or invite an expert along to show us.  Tonight I am trying new things to see if they will work or if people like the idea's.

Mini-agenda.....

1) Tool of the week....find out neat tools each week that might make the puppet making process easier.
2) Threading an arm to the chin of a puppet.
3) VampireWambat will be doing a mini teaching on making realistic eyes as well as a workshop tour.
4)Product of the week....this will show any different products that can work for puppet making.  If anyone have any ideas please let me know.

Na that would be great to see the mechanics of your lego city......would next Thursday be alright?

I am going to keep the show shorter.....I am hoping 1 1/2 hours tonight, but we will see how things go.

Hope to see you all out....
