Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I am a new member of Puppets and Stuff. One of my main concerns now is to build a portable puppet theatre. Most of the links that I find on previous posts and logs are too old to be of use. The majority of them do not exist any more. Can any of you please guide me to building plans for a portable puppet theatre that can house two adults comfortably? My wife and I will be using multiple types of hand puppets. Many PVC pipe setups are around for sale, but I cannot afford to purchase a ready made theatre. Ideally, I am searching for free design plans or an ebook that somebody can send me. I will have no problem understanding plans and building...
I will appreciate you kind help in this crucial aspect of puppetry.

Try this Google Search: https://www.google.com/search?q=pvc+puppet+stage+plans  Should give you a bunch of options for building PVC stage. Check the image results. There are some pretty good "plans" in the results.  PVC stages are the most versatile. They can be broken down and you can easily design to fit  your unique needs.

Maybe this will help.  I had forgotten that Phillip had done a video on this.   I don't think there are really any detailed plans out there.  Even ones I've seen in some of the puppet books have been more just an idea then exacting plans. We are more then happy to try and answer any specific questions you may have.  I've built quite a few of these in different configurations.  I always started with drawing out what I wanted in layout then broke that down into the joints and length of pvc I needed. I've also built wood 4x4 wood frames out of 1X2 that then hinged together in different configurations.

HI, I agree Shawn, there don't seem to be too many specifics, as there are a number of variables that dictate what you are going to do, even down to averaging out the heights of your puppeteers, and arm lengths (which is different from a persons height) how portable and what weight, whether you are to have set pieces or not etc, general audience size affects. lots of variables.  By the way Shawn, I did not know you were born in Germany!

Yes I am an Air Force brat. Born there then moved back when I was in kindergarten thru 4th grade.
