Re: Penguin Posted by Craig on May 26, 2009
Shawn,
The lower beak is movable and has about one inch of movement. The wings will hopefully flap, but I was no able to get all the motion I wanted. I have just decided to cover the penguin with flocking. It will be my first attempt, any advise?

I've never used flocking on a puppet but I think Sonny has. Another alternative would be fake fur or I have used a payne velour velvet in the past for birds. The payne velour looks a bit like flocking does in the end.

Flocking is a great way to cover an item with a fuzzy finish. Sorta like the inside of your jewelery box. It's a very slow and messy process.
DonJer is a company Jay/Dr. hooked me up with. They are completely Fantastic people! They will work with you and help you with your needs. Give them a call they have everything you need. I would recommend a stickier glue....for some reason the glue they sell resembles Elmers glue and with trial and error, I found a contact cement/rubber cement/ spray adhesive lightly sprayed on the object works very well. You can even reapply over some areas that did set well...thats with spray adhesive.
Here the website: http://www.donjer.com/
I'll take an assist, but give Jay the Goal.
Any other questions, I'll try to help you or anyone who needs it.

Thank you Sonny. I wish I knew that before I ordered from another site. I see there prices are about the same. I will give them a shot next time. Do you think Sculpt or Coat would make a good applicator?
