Greetings from Perpetual Puppets Posted by RJDiaz on May 07, 2009
Hi my name is Rick and wanted to say hello. I've been performing for over thirty years and I'm still always learning something new. At the same time we like to share anything that could be helpful. It has been some time since i've been able to share with other puppeteers and look forward to the priviledge of communicating back and forth. In our area it has been a bit of a challenge. As in some parts of the United States, the paradigm remains. Many think that puppets are for children only, that we create dolls and toys, the only true puppets are muppets and all true puppeteers are ventriloquists. We are slowly changing that a little bit at a time and i mean all of us. When I apprenticed in overseas years ago, I was amazed how engrained in the cultural fabric puppetry is throughout europe and asia. On the east and west coast you find a lot of prolific puppetry not to mention the some of the puppetry art centers that have established themselves over the last 20 years or so. I appreciate the heritage we all as puppetry artists carry and wanted to say thanks. Our company is Perpetual Puppets Production & Design and our website is www.perpetualpuppets.org. Please stop by and say hi. Recently i've decided to go back to my original love, marionettes. If anybody has some info on controllers, I'd love to take a closer look. A lot of those designs have come a long way. Thanks

Welcome to the site. Looking at your page, I see you're located in San Antonio. I'm also in Texas, just nowhere close. I have to say I rather like the colorful skeletons I've seen in the so far.

Hi RJ,

Welcome to our neat little family. Like you, I am very much interrested into marionette control's. I also love to try out all kinds of puppetry, it can go from muppet style puppets to little Uncle Duke's stick puppets. Anything and everything to learn. I am also trying to learn about how to make a good marionette and Shawn's last guest appearance on Daryl's show on blogTV really gave me the itch once again to try to make a marionette again. All I need are a few tools and I am set to have fun.

So once again, welcome welcome welcome! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Somebody here is bound to have the answer.
