I think Shawn has the right idea.If you want to give it a dirty or old look use tea or coffee.I would suggest the tea.
I read on a doll group that they used different types of tea. Some of the specialty teas like raspberry for example give off different shades to fabric.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I was mistaken in the color. I notice in some picks he has blond hair. While in other pictures it has a dirty blond look to it. Here is a pick of the type of hair i'm trying to do.

The fur allows me to replicate the look perfectly. I just need to get the shade if possible. If anyone knows of fur that has the same type of look. That would be a huge help to.

if you put fake fur in hot water the fur will turn out like cookie monster fur
Here in Holland we have dye in a tin you can dye fabric in cold water. It have to dye for a long time......

Yes he put salt into the dye... that is not uncommon. Salt helps set the dye.
