Thanks Miguel................... You brought up some strong points. I'll have to try out the different ones as you said there is more to a computer than its looks.... it is what is inside that counts.

PC instead is more easy to operate, but with new operation system (Vista) crash a lot (A lot of glitches).
......To give maintain to PC is more accurate than MAC, and to upgrade, I guess PC is easiest than MAC.
......The best brand in laptop is Sony VIOS(Of course with a big capacity), and secondly HP, follow Toshiba, Dell, then Acer, last (Still good) Gateway. But remember, all depend on the capacity (More on the memory RAM)...
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the statement a PC is easier to operate. The Windows operating system has so many ridiculous settings that are unnecessary for the average consumer. The Mac OS is very streamlined and works on its own.
Yes, there is a slight learning curve if you've been a PC person, but most end up LOVING the Mac side of life.
As far as upgrading, really with laptops the only things you can upgrade are RAM & the Hard Drive - both of which are easy to do on both PC and MAC.
And be careful about the brands... it's the components they use that really matter.... sometimes a Gateway can be better than a Sony; but most of the time it's not

You giving your point of view,(With all respect) but that doesn't mean its OK. I'm a computer technician (Basically PC troubleshooting). And for average people who always has been working with windows is much easy for them(even if is their first time), but nope the same at the time they will take a MAC (Sometime takes more time to learn a MAC "Not for all person", than windows).
Let me even give you an example for the average people at the time to tuneup PC and MAC: Most that operate Windows base operation system take care of it without needing call a second or third party(Most of the people). No the same thing with MAC (No only that but, more...). Beside to upgrade hardware component, you have to be very careful what brand you are going to take to add it to the MAC(No all of them work for it). Talking about PC (Most brand components are compatible). To free up RAM memory in a PC is easy than a MAC.
About laptop, not only for personal experience, but for others too, VIOS laptop are one of the best (I'm talking about laptop) in this field. And I have to disagree about Brand names. I prefer to build a desktop by myself(Big capacity), and to have a brand desktop computer low capacity. My clone PC(Built by me) works much better than any other brand computer that I've been touching to do or even maintenance or any fix (Troubleshooting).
But still think, MAC is much better, but take time to be into it (To work very well with the system. I'm no saying its too difficult, what I'm saying is, for people that always has been working with PC, to start working with MAC is hard).
BTW: Mr. Fuller. I was checking on-line and in the computer stores, special prices for Laptop PC (Great capacity). between $450-900. That was last week
Miguel. Peace!

Thanks Miguel and JLucci.................. You both bring up strong points. The fact of the matter is that you both are right. I wished I knew enough about how to build a desk top I would rebuild my Dell 2400. I'll keep the information that both of you have shared in my notes and Thank You for your feed back.
Now go play with your puppets

I'll look at the stores next week Thanks!

Another computer question.............. I'm interested in a internet tablet fairly reasonably priced,if it cost several hundred dollars I might as well invest in a laptop.. Something I can check emails, visit puppets and stuff or Facebook. It needs to be able to have a HDMI port if I want to connect to a TV. webcam/camera,minimal storage, etc. I've been looking around and most generic tablets will not use google apps from what I've read from reviews.
What is the difference between a E Reader and a tablet.......... I want touch screen as well but not sure which is best Resistive Capacitive. Any suggestions!

ha haah , the old Mac Versus PC debate! I believe that 80% of the world use PC. PC is like lego, anywhere in the world you can get generic parts and fix it relatively cheaply. NO computer is failsafe. Mac are NOT immune to viruses.(more viruses with PC? -only because writers of viruses know there are more PC users to exploit. Linux is just starting to get its share of viruses ) In my experience...In all the seminars I have done, there is ALWAYS at least one person in the class who have a MAC and we have not had a single school (no not one) where the MAC has not given us grief, to the point that next school I will ban them. In a class of say 35 students, the one MAC is usually the one that cannot render a final product, and is often the only one we cannot broadcast. Note that Mac is going windows... why? They secretly know they are not compatable with the rest of the world... and lastly NEVER leave your important information just on your computer. AWAYS back it up onto DVDs. computers external drives flashdrives etc are only TEMPORARY. NEVER fully trust them.

I have the Nook Color from Barnes and Noble. It's a great E-reader, and a fair tablet. I can surf the internet, do emails, watch youtube, NetFlix, etc. Not at all near what an IPad can do, but it's great for my old eyes for reading, and convenient for when im laying around the house or out watching the kids in the pool. Not something I would recommend for someone needing to do productive things on. It has no camera, and only has the small USB slot for the charger/connection to PC.

I have an iPad and I do like it. It is actually the first version so does not have camera or some of the fancy stuff the newer ones do. Don't forget that with tablets and pads you really don't need disk space because you can always keep your files on a cloud like DropBox.
E-readers normally do not allow you to add apps. They are just for reading books. I think also the screens are made different so it is easier to read books outside on an e-reader as opposed to a pad or tablet.

I ended up with a Inspiron 15R Notebook (Inspiron 5520)............ They gave me a deal that you could not resist. Fully loaded....3 year service (phone support,in home repair, accidental, theft protection, etc) however if I were a student I could have gotten a free Xbox 360 4Gb with my order.

I still would like a tablet in the future.
