Has anyone ordered foam from "puppetry.org"? Posted by jlucci on May 23, 2009
Hi all!

I recently read a post in an archive that suggested a website called "foamforyou.com"
that carried an outdoor reticulated foam.  I placed an order and they were extremely helpful & efficient,
even giving me a custom thickness of 3/4".  Unfortunately when the foam arrived I wasn't thrilled with it;
it has an almost plastic like texture and it's much rougher than traditional "Scott/Reticulated" foam.
The pores are also very large, it seems excellent for boat cushions but not puppet building.

I came across the Dallas Puppet Theater's online store at www.puppetry.org and saw they carried reticulated foam.

Has anyone ordered from them?  The price seems reasonable but not super inexpensive like foamforyou.com; which makes me think it's better foam.

One of the problems ordering foam online is that you don't get to see it or touch it before you get it. Foam is measured in pores per inch (PPI) and the higher the number, the denser and more solid the foam is. I've generally worked with foam that is 30-35 ppi. Do you know what the PPI of the foam you ordered from FoamForYou.com is?

I have not dealt with them at all........but I need to mention that Billy on this site (SS Puppets) sells all kinds of puppet making materials....I know he sells the right materials that are good quality......At least you know who you are dealing with and that he is a reliable and outstanding guy.  I would strongly suggest him and I know he is to humble to say anything so I wanted to make sure you check out his site and look at all the stuff he sells, it is a one stop place to buy all your puppet needs.......come everybody he has such a great selection at great prices.

Here is his link......http://www.freewebs.com/sspuppets/

Foamy shopping.
