Introducing: "Daisy"! :-) Posted by lovable puppet pals on Jun 09, 2009
Just thought I'd share my newest puppet.  She is made from one of the Simple Series patterns from Project Puppet, and her name is "Daisy".  I really like their patterns, however, I'm not sure what I think about their assembly of the mouthplate.
Do any of you have opinions on this?

Daisy is adorable..................... I have adapted mouth plates by using different techniques I have learned over the years. I try and custom make it according to what the person operating the puppet needs. Comfort is a must !

I've made many different mouth plates also, but this one is so different!  It's made from 1/2" foam for the actual mouthplate, then has stiffened felt over it.  The thing I'm not so sure about is how thick it makes it, and also how its natural position is "open" because it's the 1/2" foam.  It's very easy to operate, but is this a common way to make flexible mouth plates?
Thanks for the complements, Guys!

I'm not a big fan of foam used in mouth plates.................. I prefer sturdier materials like fabric covered three inch wide elastic fastened to a sturdy mouth board. I'm not sure if this method is the common way but it is for sure the more economical way to build a mouth plate. I would build it the way you feel comfortable.

Thank, Billy, I seem to like the foam core mouth plate better too.  But, I guess, since I hear so much about flexible mouth plates, I was wondering what I was missing!    I would like to take Andrews class to learn about it, but at this time I'm not going to be able to fit it in.
