Possible new feature ideas Posted by Nikole H. on Jun 20, 2009
Upon visiting some other sites, I was wondering if any thought was made about adding some features that would reply quickly to a post such as:

Clown Forum has the ability to check if you thought something was funny like a LOL button and then it will say "Nikole H lauged at this."

Facebook has a new feature where you can just hit LIKE on a photo or comment and then it will say "Nikole H likes this."

I am by no means computer literate and don't know how complicated this is but thought I would throw it out there.  Just so you know, I think this site is PERFECT the way it is.

Aloha,
Nikole

Hmmm... I do understand what you are talking about but not sure I want to implement it.   I guess  prefer that folks take the time to say in their own words what they like about something or why they got a laugh out of something.   Perhaps I am just too old fashion.

If folks think it is something they would like I would be more then happy to look into it and see if perhaps there is an addon that would do this.

Don't forget that there is the Quick Reply box at the bottom of each thread that allows you to give a quick short answer to something.  I actually use this my self most the time when replying to post (as I am now) unless I want the added convience of the full editor for bbCode and such.

I agree with Shawn, I like the personal interaction that we have on this site.

Yeah that is what makes this site special.....the personal touch.....actually Shawn had proposed a change to the site a couple of months ago but it didn't seem to go over very well......I guess we are all old here...change is getting harder for some of us.....

But thanks for sharing your idea......

Its true. This to interactivate with other is great, easy, and well understanding. I'll try others forums (No names), but too complicate to post, to interactivate with others. I like better here.
Be always the same!
Thanks Mr. Sorrell for such a great site!

Miguel!

I love the spell check here and how you can preview before posting. It has saved me heaps of times from looking like a total Banana.

I wish the magic sights I visit were as easy on bad spellers as this fantastic sight.

Thanks again Mr. Sorrell.

Nikole it is great to address new things. Over the years Shawn has been very open to new ideas. Some have worked while others did not. It does seem that we always make our way back to basics. I guess that is why everyone feels so comfortable here.

Henery and others... while I'll continue to keep the Spell Check here, if you really want to make it easy on yourself here and on other sites then download and install the Google Toolbar on your web browser. Among other features like translating words and pages it can check your spelling as you type!  For example I just misspelled "translateing" and it was underlined in read the moment I typed it, letting me know it was wrong. All I had to do is right click and I was given a choice of correct spellings I could click on to change it to.    Pretty sweet.

There is going to be a major change in the site visually and in some of the features toward the end of the summer.  Don't worry folks I am keeping the "Old" look around for those who don't want to change. In fact I am even thinking of incorporating the very first design into the choices you'll have. Everyone does realize they even have two choices in design now right? Check your Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > Current Theme  if your board and want to play.

I know that the firefox web browser has a built in spell checker. I don't think I've ever actually used the spell check feature on the forum.

I presume that this is for your own language and for the foreign. I t that case it won't work for me but is looked to me it is very handy....
And I use spell check almost every time, most of the time I know the word but not how you write it correctly (so that makes two bananas Henry)
