The wire goes all around the hands foam(outside1 inch foam) or inside (double foam glue for each hand)?

What about the other one (Same question) doubble foam or single?

What about the liner fabric. How you do it?

Thanks!

The first picture is one inch foam........ place glue all around the outer side of the hand. When tacky add the wire pinching the foam together, closing the foam over the wire.
The second picture is two pieces of 1/2" foam sandwiched with the wire in between.
Make the hand outer skin by sewing two pieces of fabric together and working it over the foamed out wire hand.

Thanks, Mr Fuller for this good info

What about the liner?
Re: stuffing arms & hands Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Jul 07, 2009
If I'm thinking   right............. correct me if I'm wrong Jon. You can make a cloth liner and stuff with fiber fill . This is then placed inside the fabric arm becoming some what of a skeleton. You can also make the hand and part of the arm out of fleece and attach the rest of the arm made from muslin cloth. This method is used in doll making and is later covered by costuming.

I'm planning to use the first method you described, Billy.

Mr. Jon. Could you take some pics, and post them, to see how its works?

Thanks

I'm not currently building any puppets and have so many non puppet building projects in the que that I don't think I get to build for a few months.  I plan to build a portrate puppet next with the antron I just picked up from Billy.  When I do I'll be happy to post some pictures of the arm building process.

Yes I also use for the arm a tube that I stuff and sew where I want the arm to bend and then insert it into the "skin" part of the arm......this tube (made of cheap cotton material usually) helps to keep the polyfill where you want it and keep the elbow nicely in place.  The hands I separate from the arm personally because of the method that I use that is the only way I can do it.....BTW I use a dowel to stuff with, make it a bit large so you don't poke holes in the fabric......I hope this helps.
