Puppet neophyte... Posted by JackieP on Jul 09, 2009
Hi all,

I am very new to puppet making. My main interest is marionettes. I got interested in making them after reading an article about artist Scott Radke and seeing the unique looking marionettes that he has made.
I have made a few scarf marionettes and am working on putting together a simple marionette that I can teach to my art camp students in August.
This forum is a great resource and hopefully I can gain a bit of experience and be able to join some of the discussions.

Welcome welcome welcome JackieP, I too started out with marionettes. Its really awesome. I strongly suggest you go to either http://www.blogtv.com/People/puppetsandstuff or http://www.blogtv.com/people/StiqpuppetsLive to check out the video's where Shawn shows us how to make a marionette. They are my favorite part of the workshop we usually have each thursday night. I say usually cuz I dont know if we will have one this week or not. But the tips and tricks in those workshops when Shawn is there to show up how he does it all is great. And everybody who are guest speakers there are also amazing in what they all have to offer.

Oh, and as you will soon see, the world of puppetry is an addictive one. So welcome to our little family. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. There is surely somebody that will be able to answer you as best as they can.

Puppet hug!
