I agree with Chris, you are very much on the right track. This really is going to be a trial and error process. You might even for the sake of experimentation see what making a few changes to the pattern you have results in.

There really isn't a pattern on project puppet that will yield the results you are looking for, to my knowledge.

I think my biggest problem is that I don't really know what I'm doing. I can follow a pattern, but when it comes to modifying it, I don't fully understand it. I have been studying the character, and what I've come up with is very much not where I want to be. I don't really know where to go from there. I have one more idea, but if that doesn't work, I'm really at a loss. Gonna try my other idea tonight, and see what happens, I think.

My biggest problem is that looking at the image where I want to be, the face seems wider than the mouth and the nose, and I'm unsure how to achieve that. I'm not that great with foam, either, so that doesn't really help much.

Also, I have found out that there is foam AND a ball to make the shape of wembley's nose. That actually might make things a bit easier for me, because I was doing something completely different, and failing.

I'm just frustrated because I have no idea where to go from here, but I'll keep plugging away. I'm gonna do this no matter what!

What foam pattern you using for the head?
Re: A Few Questions from a Beginner Puppet Making Person Posted by BoxGhost on Jul 21, 2009
One that I made myself, but it's not working out. The nose seeems too wide or something. The face doesn't seem wide enough. Do you have any suggestions?

I guess must be mold somehow. And Add seams in specific areas!

Post a pic from the head foam pattern, maybe I could figure some seams out

All right. Gotta wait till I'm home, though. I don't have a picture of it with me. ^_^

It's basically derived from this, though (this is my original fleece head covering) if you want to have a look:

I can see exactly what I'm doing wrong, but I just can't figure out how to fix it! It's just frustrating, that's all

I see. I The thing here is that you thinking in 2D, no 3D (That fabric pattern can work just in 2D the way it is now).

If you have the exactly foam pattern, I could do modification, even enlarge in some area and add seams where it need its.

Just PM and I work it out. See if I can do something (I have and idea, hoping works) I like the way you are into this project(Its excite it)

Oh, Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much. Like I said, I have to wait till I get home, because I don't have the stuff with me, but I'll get you the picture of the foam pattern as soon as I can. I appreciate your help, and everyone else who has helped me thus far as well. ^_^

All right. I think I figured out my main question. My original pattern:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/Fraggle/wembleytest1.jpg

caused the puppet to look like this:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/Fraggle/DSC05439.jpg

What do I have to do to the pattern, to make it look like this:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/haleybrooks/Fraggle/fragglefoamclose.png

On mine, the head doesn't come up at all. The nose pretty much is the head. And that's wrong. I've drawn it out on paper like 17 times and I can't figure out how to get the 2d shape to translate to the 3d shape.
