Okay, guys, here is where I'm at for today. The fur dying actually went better than expected, and the color seems pretty good. His fur has been sewn on, and we're going to stuff the bottom of him to give him the pear sort of shape that boober has. My husband has a plan, which is good, cause I don't. (he's helping me with this project.)

Here are some new shots. The hair isn't attached yet, nor is the hat. I just placed it on him to take the picture.

I agree the dye is an good match. You did an awesome job in capturing the likeness of the original Boober puppet. I would really like to see a shot of the tail as well.

Thanks for the kind words about Boober. The tail actually isn't attached yet. My husband says he has a plan. He's the engineer, i'm the artist. I think i'm going to trust him for now. Once I see what he's done, I'll post pictures of the tail and explain how it was done. 

I agree that your dye job came out pretty good on the fabric referred to as Fuzzy Fleece. While taking on a fur characteristic it is actually a fabric material instead of a faux fur. You can knit a eyelash yarn that has the same look. Nevertheless a job well done. You will enjoy the foam book but the videos are much better.

I bought some fur for wembley, but I got it off of ebay, so it's already pre-dyed, so that should make things a LOT easier once I am ready to start him!

I'll have to get the foam videos as soon as I have a little more money. Thanks for the tip!

I felt the same way when I first got the book. That is why I ordered the video (VHS) which is now on DVD. I understand  all of the book now. If there are parts that you don't understand feel free to ask questions here or you can join the Foam Book Forum and ask the People who wrote the book

the only stuff I really don't understand is the foam underskeleton for the head. I can't wrap my brain around it. I can use a pattern, but as for trying to make it on my own... i can't seem to understand it.

Sorry, I'm not having a great day today, and the puppet thing added a bit to my frustration.  Why does the sad face look so angry?

When I'm trying to design a new shape I like to use paper.  It doesn't really act like foam but it is cheap so I'm not afraid to make mistakes.  Once I've got the size and shape about right I then turn to foam and fine to it from there.  I try to relax and have fun learning as I go.  Now that I've made a few different heads I feel like I understand how it all goes together.  Have fun with the learning, even the mistakes.  That's what puppets are for anyway. To have fun with.
