This could be a good example of head for the red hair fraggle:

I'm gonna work through this I guess and see what happens. Probably can start messing about with it tomorrow night, unless I get a chance tonight before I go out.
Not so good with darts, but my husband is a bit better than me, so maybe he can help me with it. I sent him the jpg that I posted as well.
I've got one more question at this point: If that is the pattern for my fleece that I've posted above, how much smaller should I make the foam that will slip into it?

I know starting out in Puppetry can be exciting but overwhelming at times. You want to learn everything to finish a new project. I have pretty much seen and bought them all. However may I suggest Dr. Puppets video downloads. Jay is a member here at P&S and I will have to admit these are some of the best tutorials on Puppet building that I've seen. He has them in sections so you download what you need. For only $5.35 each it is a good deal.
I would get Building the Doctor puppet- He shows you how to foam a puppet head, arms, body, etc. and then skin the foam head using the Henson stitch. ( eight parts )
You may want to get the Mechanical eyes to.

I really think learning by trial and error like you are doing helps you learn the concept of puppet design. Might I add I think you are doing a excellent job.

I guess, if you using fleece (because of the stretch) like 1/2 or 3/4 bigger than the foam(I'm talking bout the fleece fabric)!

I know Jay. ^_^ He's actually making a puppet of one of my characters from my animations that I do (i'm not nearly advanced enough to do something like that on my own yet) ... I already know he's a pretty darned skilled puppet creator, so i'll check it out. Thanks! ^_^
And thanks to all of you for your kind words and support! I'm confident I'll get though this one way or another!

BoxGhost, I think you are on the right track with your pattern. You might need some darts in the end of the nose to get the right "roundness" of it. May a suggest that you use some cheap material and then sew up the pattern you have made. Then stuff it with some batting and see what how it ends up. That should give you some idea of where to take it from there.

Yeah, that's a pretty good idea! I think I have some material laying around somewhere that I can use.

what pattern you have now as skull foam?

That pattern looks perfect. I did a very similar pattern for my dragon puppet a couple of months ago, that I have not yet finished. My dragon puppet has nearly no definition in his cheek area, and you may also find that the case with this design. However, my dragon head is a foam head covered in fleece. I am not sure if you plan to do the same, but hopefully you have a different result. I agree with Shawn that you may have to add a small dart at the end of the nose to give it a more rounded look.
