ah, that's a good idea, leaving the back of the head open! i'll try that. I also haven't sewn the mouth plate in yet, so that option is open, too. I'm still just messing around with a prototype at the moment, but this is all very, very helpful! Thank you! ^_^

I think I'm gonna run to joann fabric today and get some more fleece. My previous experiment ended in absolute epic failure, but I'm a lot closer than I was before.

Thank You for keeping us informed of your progress. I'm still trying to figure out from a previous picture how the lower jaw and head are joined.................... I to have failed at several attempts. It has to click in my mind and once it does I got it. You have got me intrigued with trying to figure this out.

Thanks, Billy. ^_^ Thanks for all your help! Working together, I think we might be able to figure this one out! I'm gonna keep goin', see what I can come up with. My husband's the engineer, so he can probably work something out more quickly than I can.

I bought some different sized foam balls yesterday, and I'm going to try inserting them into the nose to see if I can figure out the proper size for the nose and eyes. From what I've seen in pictures, the ball inserted into the nose seems to be the same size as the eyes, so when I figure one out, I will have figured out both (i think). Ping Pong Balls and Golf Balls were a bit too small, unfortunately, because that would have been the easiest.

I'm off to work on my comic book right now, but I'm coming back to the puppet this afternoon, and I'll report any more findings.

Sorry I haven't had any pics recently, btw, my camera's battery died and I've been really lazy about recharging it.

Look closely at the upper right image of the page.  Notice the faint line around the front of the nose?  That is what I was talking about when I mentioned adding a piece to the down the center of the nose. I think this is going to do more to give you the shape of the nose then a ball in the end of it. In fact not sure why there would be a ball in the end of the nose.

The upper right image is for uncle traveling matt's puppet, and his face, while very similar to wembley's is a bit different. Wembley's nose comes out a lot farther than the mouth on his puppet, and his head isn't rounded and sticking up at the top like traveling matt's (I'm obsessive compulsive and have been studying the puppets very closely :P)

And as far as the ball...In the one interview with the puppet makers that I watched recently, the woman who designed Wembley's puppet specifically said that the roundness of his nose was achieved by inserting a ball into the nose.

I looked at this picture, and it does indeed look like something round has been inserted to keep the shape:

I tried contacting the person that made that fraggle above to confirm some things, but to no avail.

All right, got back into it and messed up my sewing machine, so I can't continue at the moment. My husband knows how to fix it, and I don't, so I'll have to revisit it when he gets home.

On a happy note, though, tried the ball in the nose on one of my prototypes and it worked BRILLIANTLY! ^_^ So at least one thing is going right! :P

I am having one heck of a time with this. One thing I know is that the nose is wrong, but I'm having a very hard time with the shape if it. Also, the shape of the face.

Is there another pattern that I should be possibly buying from project puppet? I'm really  having one heck of a time with this, and any sort of help, guidance, whatever, would be greatly appreciated. I'm quite upset right now, because up until this point, I've kinda understood where I went wrong, but now, I can visually see where I want to be, but haven't a clue on how to get there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very discouraged right now, because I do not know what I am doing wrong.

I'm not sure that you are really that far off. If the eyes were smaller and moved forward a couple of inches, and then the "hair" was put on right behind the eyes, you might see your work so far as closer to your goal than you think.

I know it's frustrating, but if this is something you really want, it's worth a mistake or three, to get it right. Set it aside, get a good sleep tonight, and then play around with it a little more.
