Pretty good!

What pattern you used for that cute old lady?

Thanks for the praise, I couldn't do it without help from my Heavenly Father.

It is a pattern I've had for years that I've modified. I was concerned that she looked too mannish until I put the hair on and adding the makeup was the finishing touch. I just hope I can make the Young Rhoda turn out  just as nicely.

I really love the puppet and they turned out great I love the story I it is a pitty I can come an watch it. I really would love too. The old couple looks like old people who loved their lives until now and really love the present time. She really love too poor in a cup of coffe from familiy and friend and he loves to talk to them...........

Sue are you going to be performing for the CCMU next week? If you are, how exciting! I definitely love the overview of the program and am sure it will be fantastic! And I love how Pete and Rhoda look! One thing I do notice and, maybe it's just me, but her neck does look a mite too long. Other than that, I love the make-up job, I think it's subtle enough to not be overbearing yet still allows the audience to see it. I think Pete and Rhoda look great together, I almost have a flashback of that painting with the elderly couple and the pitchfork!

And I can definitely relate to you about having to finish puppets in time for the performance, I have 4 to build by next Saturday! Luckily it's only sheep. [well I also have props to make, scenery to paint, scenes to rehearse and a recording to mix] So best of luck with finishing in time and delivering an amazing performance! =D

No, we will be at a Michigan Summerfest in early August.

The neck looks too long because the head is seperate from the body. When you put the puppet on you can adjust the length of the neck.

Hope your sheep are coming along well. I was temted to build one when you first posted, but I restrained myself. Knowing I have much to do for my own production. Best of luck.

Sue the Puppets are absolutely fantastic. The elderly couple reminds me of the couple that sat behind me at the church I use to attend. Rhoda doesn't play the piano by ear does she? Pete wouldn't be a retired executive from Disney Theme Park in Florida? If not then it is not my elderly couple.

Not only are their faces wonderful, but I really admire their hands!  What sort of pattern did you use, or did you freehand it?  (Heh, 'freehand'...  Sorry!  :D )

Also, this is just a side note general question for anyone, but is it standard practice to put 3 main fingers plus a thumb?  And why???  Just wondering if anyone knew...

Thanks!

Freehand!!! Funny. It is a pattern I've used for years. They have a foam insert with wire in the hand and fingers which allows for changing position of the fingers.

Three fingers and a thumb, basically because that fourth finger usually just plain looks wrong. It goes back to cartoons, have you ever noticed that most cartoon characters only have three fingers and a thumb? Besides, it is hard enough to get the foam hand into the fabric with four digits. I couldn't imagine doing it with five.

Oh awesome! I'm actually going to perform in Visalia, CA SummerFest on August 1, very excited about the opportunity.

Oh I could tell that it was separate but good point, once your puppeteer slips her on, they can adjust it.

And thank you, I actually have the foam bodies done and hope to have them completed by Saturday night. That way I can focus on the heads next week. I plan on taking a few pics to show my progress. [once i'm done I'll post it all, right now it's too much to get done]
Aw I wish you had! I could really use the help with developing the head & muzzle. And when I searched the forums I found your sketch and planned on asking you about the pattern but know you're busy too ;] But I definitely understand and appreciate the thought. And thanks, I'll need that and God's help, best of luck to you too!
