Attention all Puppet builders!  The annual "Project Puppet" puppet building contest has started! See www.puppetcontest.com for details.  This year's theme is a jungle one!  The puppet must be built using one of the simple series puppet patterns available at www.projectpuppet.com.  Grand Prize winner gets $200 cash.  Runner up will receive $100 gift card to Project Puppet.

I'm really excited about this contest. I've been thinking about it since it was first announced and have a couple of ideas. I just have to finish my current project before I can begin this one. I think it helps to let the ideas percolate around inside my head for a while before I actually try to design something.

I have never made a puppet before but I have a couple of ideas in my head for this challenge.  Although I'm in 2 minds about trying to make a puppet for the challenge as it would be my first puppet and it will probably come out looking terrible and I doubt that I would have enough time to be able to fit in a test puppet as well as one for the challenge.  Hmmmm

FYI Submissions need to be in by August 23.  That's over a month to plot and build your wild jungle creation! 

What about if we want to build an animal character! Can we add features on the head or not?
I just want to make sure that this thing don't against (The modification head patterm law)

Hi Miguel. Good question! You can change the patterns beyond recognition if you wish...in fact, that's the idea. The requirement for the contest is that you begin with an unaltered Simple Series pattern...then you can change it, add to it, splice it and dice it, any way you wish. If you are worried that the judges may question whether it was built using a Simple Series pattern, then take a few pictures during the construction process and send those along with your entry.

Oh, I forgot to ask. What about if we want to add a nose (Not exactly human nose but animal nose. I don't know how to say it in english), but we have to cut part of the head pattern to add it and works good even with the mouth plate?
Can we do that?
