New builder on the block! Posted by Paul Santellana on Aug 03, 2009
Hello everyone,
I just started using this forum. This site was suggested above all others as the place to go if I wanted to start puppet building. So now I submit to all the masters for your knowledge as I start on a path that will touch many children's lives. I am a volunteer teacher for Northview Christian Life Church in Indiana. About a year and a half ago I realized that the children needed something different then teachers standing in front of them telling stories that were a little above their heads. I remembered growing up in a very small church and how much I loved watching, then later performing the puppets there. The puppets made the stories stick. I started filming a show called The Rocky and Helping Hand Show. It started very crude. I was stuck with using puppets that were already available and were old. But they worked. Now I have a goal, finish 52 episodes which I write, perform, film, and edit. I also have plans for 4 "movies". After that, I have another series idea to start. There is where I need the help from all you professionals. I have the idea for a puppet, and the ability to make it (I am currently using the free patterns from the 1960's style puppets found on line). I found a foam pattern for my new puppet, but because I do everything myself, I need techniques and ideas. If anyone feels they could help, you will definitely make it on the credits for the shows I do and will get referred by anyone I meet. If you would like to check out my blog on The Rocky and Helping Hand Show, then here is it's link: www.rocky-hand.blogspot.com. Oh, and if anyone needs a professional FREE script writting program, I highly suggest you Goggle Celix.

Welcome to the block! It's a pretty big one, spanning the globe (to bring you the constant variety of . . . puppets!)
The best thing to do for help is ask a particular question. Folks here are very free with advice and ideas, and will jump right in.
