HOORAY and welcome!  Glad you decided to get interested in puppetry and at your age, too.  I started really performing at the age of 16, too.  Started out with family and friends and progressed from there.  Good luck!

Thank you so much for the words of advice and support from everybody! Especially the website suggestions and words of advice. This is such a kind forum!
I'm going out shopping for stuff today, and was wondering what most people used when building the foam/glorified sock puppets. I know in the ehow tutorial they just had a thick square sheet, but in other videos I've seen large blocks that people carved. Which is more effective? Thanks!

hi Brooke, welcome aboard..

I recently started playing with the glorified sock puppet pattern myself.  I made one out of just fake fur to see how it all went together and stuffed the head.

I then made one out of 1/2 inch polyfoam using contact cement.  I covered it in fake fur but had to add about 1/2 inch or so to the pattern and played with it to make it fit over the polyfoam..
