WARNING: Super Cute Baby Monster!!!! Posted by Onath on Aug 07, 2009
Hey Everybody,
So here is my lastest puppet build. I was attempting to make the cutest thing I could. I really want to get that "ahhhhh omg he is so cute" from the audience.

Couple questions I would like answered if you guys have time. Do you think it is rediculously cute? Should I make more in this style? Do you think people would buy them if they were for sale?
I appreciate any constructive criticism you may have. I also value all of your input no matter what level of puppetry you are at.
Thanks,
Jon Little

Cute is not the word for it...................... It reminds me of the Gremlins way back when. You should definitely make them all different colors and shapes. I would like to have one on my key chain.

I'm going to have to take some insulin, and I'm not diabetic, that is so sweet! I have nick-named him/her Flame Baby. Yes, I think folks would buy this little monster, and like Billy suggested, multiple colors!

Multiple colors, shapes, and facial expressions. That little guy is awesome. Cost will be the main factor on how well they will sale, but I want one. It would be a great edition to my new series The Mystery Bags Attic.

Well you for sure get the "ahhhhh omg he is so cute" from me! I think he is great. I agree that this would be a good move on your part to produce these little guys. I think you have a winner!

I agree with Billy on this one, I would LOVE to have a keychain with that little fellah on it. He is really adorable.
Maybe you could do a few with different facial expressions on them. These kind of characters are quite popular. He would be a definit winner for all. Great job!!!

Nice work .....you have come a long way since you started making puppets.....it is so nice to see your progress.....this is such a cute (which is an understatement) puppet that I have seen in a while.......I would suggest that you make them kid safe or make sure you stress that this is a professional puppet and not a toy for kids.....either than that thought this little fellow will go far in sales....congrats on a job well done.......you might even go as far as selling the pattern.....but that is a running thought....LOL.
All the best......

He looks fantastic Onath! I definitely think he's cute, as far as the "ahhhhh omg he is so cute" reaction, I didn't get it but, for me, it WOULD happen once I saw him in action and how great the puppeteer plays up the cuteness.
As for your questions, yes he's cute. DEFINITELY make more in this style. And people (including me) would DEFINITELY buy them.
One little comment I'd like to make is on the focus of his eyes. To me, they seem a little too crossed so rather than giving the impression of looking at the viewer, he just looks cross-eyed. I'm not sure if that was the look you were going for but just letting you know.
Either way, he looks GREAT! I especially love the little hands and feet, they look so nice. Did you make this pattern yourself?
Also, I agree with stigman, you're puppet building has come a looooong way. Keep it up!!

Thanks everyone for the awesome feedback. It is great to hear that you guys think I am pushing into new territory. It has been a lot of ugly puppets to get to where I am now. Which I still want to make tons of improvements.
I shot a quick parody of the 3 year old girl who tells the story of star wars with my baby monster. Check it out.
