Miguel, I used white felt on a yellow craft foam sheet for his teeth, because I didn't have any white craft foam in my stash.

Well, it looks like filling the arms with fiberfill was my choice.
I read somewhere, I think it was Daryl's advise, that you should try not to use glue to add facial features, sooo I handstitched his ears, eyes, nose, eyebrows, and I even handstitched his fleece hands, I must admit it was very satisfying. Being a dollmaker glue has always left me feeling guilty, lol. Fleece is so nice to hand sew, the stitches just disappear like magic into the pile.
I'm still waiting for his hair to arrive.

cheers rosie, yours seams are looking progressively better!  Did you finally get your hands on some antron?  I can really tell you have learned a great deal from making just a couple puppets....Kudos!!

So far so good! How did you stitch the ears and nose? I wonder. Stitch the eyebrows?

Miguel, I just cut out some ear shapes and stuffed them with a little fiberfill then sewed them on. With the nose I used a plastic bead that I covered with fleece and tied off with regular thread wound round and round, I then cut as close to the thread as possible to get rid of as much of the bump as I could and sewed it to his face, really simple. The eyebrows are just thin strips of felt sewn on.

I'm thinking today to make a skull cap with black felt and then sewing black yarn to it to make his hair, then I will sew the whole thing to his head.

For his arms I think I will use rolls of foam glued to make a thin tube with a cut for his inner elbow joint and see how that works out. I'm trying to stay away from using too much fiberfill, it's quite expensive here and I use enough of it for my dolls.

I still have to figure out the inner tubing so that it reaches through to the mouthplate, shouldn't be too hard.

I was wondering why you were avoiding stuffing the arms but the cost of it being higher there makes it all make sense! be sure to experiment with the foam, it can be way too stiff if you don't cut the elbow gap big enough. Having said that it all depends on your foam of course but experiment each time you cut some foam away.
I've been browsing the up dates on this thread but I haven't told you how great he looks, it's fun to see such regular updates and fantastic results, a really happy character!

Yes, Steve, everything is expensive here, except 1/2 inch foam it seems, lol.

Ben is a happy chappy, I find myself constantly wearing him and stroking his hair for some reason!

I didn't cut anything on the arms, I just put some hot glue in the inner elbow and squeezed till it stayed. I used the half inch foam rolled up lengthways which at least gives a nice smooth finish with the jersey fabric I used, normally you can see all the lumps of fiberfill when the fabric is thin and stretchy.

Trying to design my own patterns today, should be challenging.
