how do get the body to hold onto my arm? Posted by AvenueQrazy on Aug 20, 2009
Ok this is my very first post so i wanted to cover something that i could never figure out, When i watch the muppet show, i notice that even though the puppeteer is holding a charachter like fozzy or miss piggy over his head, the weight of the puppet isnt causing the neck to stretch alot and the body isnt swinging around as well, what i want to know is how do i get my next puppets body to fit on my arm? because most puppets have a body that is much bigger than a person's arm it causes it to jerk around due to having all that extra space inside. how should i fill out the inside so this dosent occur? I love a lenthy and detailed response so dont hold back!!

hi there
There's a neck sleeve attached to the puppet's head that runs down inside the foam/fleece body and is attached to the bottom of the puppet. The puppeteer has his/her hand in the sleeve.
Also using the rod or rods helps to stabilize the puppet as well.

Esch gave you the right answer. If you make this sleeve out of something like Lycra then it can stretch but still hugs the arm. Lycra is normally "slicker" on one side an you use that against the arm on the inside to make it easier for the hand to slip in and out. Try to find a lycra that has a one way stretch. You want the stretch to be horizontal (around the arm) and not vertical.

I'm not quite sure but I believe the way Shawn has it set up is that you are required to contribute so many post before it lets you upload pictures to a gallery album. He can comment more on this !!!

Ah, so that's what that was, I could have sworn that my picture limit was, at some point, 4mb's. Then all of a sudden it was up to 1gb. I thought i'd made a mistake, lol.
