My general rule is the wrists meet at about the base of the puppets to put it in a simple straight forward matter.....this is not a solid rule just a general....I don't believe in rules when it comes to creativity however things have some common traits...lol.

Ohhhh Billy "computer stand off screws"! I like that thought! The only thing is that they may work them selves loose (unscrew) with manipulation. Then again on my computer it takes the strength of an ox to get them out, when I switch out cables, it seems.

to answer otto von glumm, ive decided to make the arm and hand give it a total length of 13 inches. but now i have one very important question: then i make the tube arms to i glue two parts together or just take two sides and make them meet to get the cylindrical shape? im using contact cement if just so you guys know.

If you want a tube then you "just take the two sides and make them meet". That being said some folks do cut out two pieces of foam then glue them together. When I make arms I don't even use foam. I use muslin fabric tubes that I stuff with poly fill. Trust your instincts, you are on the right track.

I am backing up Shawn on this....I also use cheap cotton type material tube, stuff it (this keeps the stuffing from shifting), and then put it into the Antron fleece tube...now I sew a line where the elbow is on the cheap cotton material NOT on the Antron fleece....this keeps the elbow where you want it...I don't know if foam is necessary for an arm, to me it adds more weight but that is just my opinion.

I use doll joints, as suggested in The Foam Book. I've never had any problems with it, and it's fairly easy to do. (I think it's explained somewhere on this site if you search for it)
