Pinned Arm Posted by puppetfreak on Aug 25, 2009
I was wondering if anyone here does this? I would like to know how I can do it? I have seen it done in, of course, Avenue Q but I was wondering if its on the clothes or in the arm ext. thank you all for any info on this subject!!

I am not sure that I understand your question. Do you mean an arm that you can take on and off? Daryl has a video over on his BlogTV account about how he does that.

That video is great! But what I was looking for was an arm that can be pinned up so that it doesn't move. In Avenue Q the character Kate Monster has one arm rod in one of her arms. The other one is pinned up against her side/stomache. Like so!

Hmmm, id say buy either a small safety pin or sow a button to its hand and make a small slit on your puppets clothes or body for the button to go into. if you go with the button idea just make sure you get a button that isnt small and a string that isnt very weak because the weight of the arm could otherwise make it fall apart. i havent tried this but if a button can keep peoples pants from falling off then im sure it will work on a puppet.

Hey PuppetFreak you can also do a string attachment to give the arm a little movement and looks less like a dead arm. The string method can be easily removed if you don't need it any more.  Here is the video I did that will show you how to do it.....

But the safety pin will keep the arm up is the easiest way.

Stiq also has a video where he shows using fishing line to attach one arm to the puppet's chin. Maybe it would work better?

The embed didn't work for me. Maybe Billy or Shawn can edit this so it can work?
