Well time to vote, sad to say the ones posted here were not chosen but good luck to those who were.
At least I can honestly say that those that were selected were truly deserving - they are pretty great!

Hello!
I am Jessi from Germany (sorry for the bad English...) and I`m a "silent reader" of puppetsandstuff for a couple of months now.
Although I read a lot of posts in the last weeks, I did not discover this thread... Hmmm...

I also build a puppet fot the contest... Chris Chamäleon has not been voted into the top ten, but maybe you like him anyway! He is my second puppet and I finished him 30 minutes before the dead line of the contest ...I always have a problem with time..

Jessi, first welcome to Puppets and Stuff, and I'm glad you made yourself known. Your English is certainly better than my German, so you have nothing to apologize for.

I went to your album. WOW! Your Chameleon is just wonderful. I'm also pretty fond of his name. Anyway, I'm glad you are here, and I hope you will continue to show us your work.

Thanks! Yes, the zebra nose is made of fleece. I actually used the talking donkey puppet pattern from puppetpatterns.com  as a reference and attached it to what was originally the neck opening on the pinhead pattern from project puppet, and then adjusted the lower jaw to reach.

That chameleon is great! I don't mind as much not being selected when I look at the other wonderful creations that also were not chosen - the judges did indeed have a tough decision to make. It is an honor to be among such company.

Next year, hopefully I will know about the contest in time so that I can get all the extra details taken care of as well as take the time to get decent photos and write a creative description.

I still hope to see more pictures posted, maybe there are more silent readers out there?
Re: Project Puppet Contest 2009 Posted by ProjectPuppet on Sep 10, 2009
The judges' job is very tough. Project Puppet has held the contest for the past four years, and for the past four years I am always surprised when the top ten come back. It's made me realize that much of what makes a good puppet (or a good character) is very individual. Some folks are drawn or see something in certain characters that others do not. And vice versa. It's a difference that brings us all together.

By the way, just because a puppet didn't make it into the top ten doesn't mean it wasn't recognized by the judges. One of the judge's, a very famous Muppet builder/designer (wink, wink), top favorite...number one on his list...and yes the word "brilliant" was used...was Mutoe. Chris Chameleon was in the top ten of another judge's list.

Throughout the voting period, I'll be emailing the entrants (even if their entry was not included in the top ten) with the number of votes they received and the judges' comments.

Everybody did a great job. We've already got a theme and a little something special planned for next year's contest that should mix things up a bit.
