Gallows are a "tool" to help you string your marionette.  I wish I had a picture of my old one.  Think of the old hang man game.  There are actually two of the uprights next to each other that you "lay" your control on.  They are spaced so that you can easily get to the positions you need to string to on the control.  An easy cheap way to do it would be to get two shelf barckets from the hardware store and screw them to the wall next to each other.  If you had a small coffee table underneath them it would make it easier to work on the puppet.  My old rig, I could actually move the position of the horizontals up and down on the vertical support so that I could do different stringing heights.

Daryl, I'm looking forward to the shows return. My life has no one night that is free and in most cases I will be catching the "reruns" or archives as I did before, but I just wanted to say thank you for your generosity with the webcasts. I learnt so much from the "first series," this is must see TV for anyone who wants their puppets to have slick, professional touches.

Yes that is the idea Billy but with two horizontal wood pieces that come out instead of the string to hold the control.
