Should: You definitely need to go see his work. It's am-az-ing! As for his stuff online, I do know he has a Facebook page (but it's not really updated, I have a feeling his agent just set it up by the looks of it), plus a couple of videos on Youtube discussing marionette building and performance...but that's it. I think though if a lot of puppeteers harassed him (in a nice way of course) about putting more of his tips out there, he would, given perhaps, more time to do it. As Shawn points out, the only official site that I've found is his agent's. I suspect it's really more a matter of time, and not having enough to fully sit down and write everything out - plus, he might not realise how much of an online interest there would be for it.

Yeah, the ressources you are talking about I have read them or seen them all. There is just not much and he is such a great talent. It's incredible that he is just falling into the cracks on the internet. There is just nothing on him on the net and that is frustrating a bit for a puppet builder and enthousiast such as myself.
I am a fan of a Ronnie Burkett page on facebook, but I am not sure if it is the one you are talking about. Maybe, if you still have some sort of contact information, you could start rolling the ball his way to put more stuff online for the rest of us who just crave information :D

Yes, I agree it's frustrating. I'm having the same issue 'at home', in that 99% of Australian puppeteers don't have websites, let alone being on Facebook or having other resources online. I sense that either none of them care or they're scared off by the new technology.

I will be sending him the link for the interview, and thank him again for his time, so I'll definitely keep it in mind to ask him to try and put more info up online - I think perhaps getting him to write a book would be great too.

Did you know that Achhhhhhhmed and Jeff Dunham & co. are coming to Melbourne too, not so high brow and specialised but still a lot of fun.

Personally I'd rather see Billy Twinkle as Dunham is easy to find on Youtube, and it's a bit like the difference between an Opera and a pop concert for the level of class. But still it's puppetry and I thought you might be interested to know.

Thought I would post this: I just discovered my old employer (an online publication for arts in Australia) has also interviewed RB. Looks as though they just did an email interview (they send questions, he writes back). I'm a little disappointed, as the interviewer is my old editor and if she knew a bit more about puppetry - ah, alas, I don't work there anymore - she could have gone a little further than the usual questions. Anyway, it's still interesting...

Scuba, I did see Dunham's on his way. I actually rolled my eyes at the ad, only because I've heard so much about him already from stuff online I'm dreading the craziness. Soon we'll have half the Aussie online people looking for Peanut replicas :P  (I only say this because Avenue Q replicas are already driving me crazy)

I totally agree on the difference. I'm not a huge fan of crass jokes anyway, but Dunham seems so very different to what RB does. However, I'm tempted to go out of curiousity, if I can afford it. But I may - may - see if I can arrange a similar interview experience... if only because it's interesting to hear all the insider stuff, no matter what the content of the show is or what I think of it.

EDIT: Whoops... you should definitely try to see RB if you can. He probably won't be back for another couple of years (roughly the time between each of his last shows)

Thank you for posting this article. It was really a nice read. Yes, it could have been more done in depth, but for a person who doesn't know anything about the art, I think your old editor did a fine job.
