How are you dealing with the bad economy? Posted by Tim on Sep 03, 2009
Even with the country on the mend, things are still tight for me. I've had to diversify and do a lot more illustrating, sculpting and writing for others.

(You can see some of my stuff here:  http://www.facebook.com/timbarnespuppeteer  Stop by and introduce yourself if you would like!)

Sadly, I'm having to sell off a lot of puppetry related stuff on eBay (If you want to take a look: http://shop.ebay.com/timbarnes321/m.html ), but it won't be so bad if it goes to good homes.

So what's YOUR secret to surviving?

Tim

I guess there is no secret, that is why it is called surviving. I sent you a friend invite on facebook and Thank You for sharing your EBay listings. You have some very interesting things listed. I sold a extensive 30 year old Coca cola collection years ago to pursue my career in puppetry. If there is any way we can help let us know. I will certainly be checking out your Ebay some more.

Hi Tim, Billy is right, we do our best to survive. In my casse, I just do alot more comission work than before. And I end up working more than I usually, but I dont mind since I am working in my dream job. But it is hard, I admit. So I just try to see the positive side in everything.

THings have shifted a bit for me, I am making less puppets on commision but my workshops have increased so it all came out in the wash at the end of the day.

Hey, Daryl, I live in Barbados right now, but I was born and raised in the UK, I find that quite a few bits of your terminology are very familiar to me, for example 'it'll all come out in the wash', I haven't heard that saying for a long time.... but you're Canadian. I heard some one say that a lot of Canadians are from the UK originally, maybe your family is too then? You make me homesick, lol.

I've been making simple puppets and selling them on Ebay (the same pattern over and over again-Arggh) But I found the best way to survive is to trust in God and never give up no matter what. Just keep pushing forward through that dark tunnel because you know there has to be away out-Steve
