Live hand/gloves Posted by stonemask on Sep 09, 2009
Message ImageHi there. I´ve been in a break from puppet building all summer. The I started 10 days ago with new puppet. And Im very happy about this puppet. It´s a monkey. The head is made of very simple round head pattern, with all kinds of attachements, like thicker jaw upper and lower. And thick "eyebrows", to make him more like monkey.
The body is made from the project puppet. With add ons, like chestand belly.
Next I want to make the hands. I want to have the monkey with one live hand. So I can put the hand in some kind of glove. Can someone tell me how I do it in easy steps:)?
Here you can see video test with the monkey. He needs his arms and maybe ears.

I can't tell you much about live hand puppets, but I really like your new puppet. His body is just terrific! I wish I understood Icelandic, so that I could understand what he was singing!

Well, the way I made the gloves for the puppet I use the most was by finding a pair of work gloves and tracing them onto the same fleece as the rest of the puppet. Any gloves that are a little larger than your own would work.
Then just sew the pieces together and maybe add a "sleeve" that goes down the wrist. Hopefully you can see what I mean from this picture.

How you did the muzzle (Mouth)? And how you did the Eyelids(Botton ones)

Thanks!

Thanks VampireWombat I´ll check this out.
Miguel you can see the progress here http://www.puppethub.com/photo/albums/monkey-in-progress

The bottom ones... I just took little part of antron fleece and sewed it in a little long roll. Like a thin hot dog. And the seams turned down. The seams was almost invisible. Then I glued it under the eyes.

What pattern you said you used to do this puppet(Because, don't look like the roly head pattern from PP, right)?

Re: Live hand/gloves Posted by stonemask on Sep 09, 2009
Thats just basic round head pattern, which I changed a little bit. its not from PP but I used the body from them.
