hello from a london berlesque performer. Posted by berlesquer on Sep 09, 2009
hello, i am glad to find a puppet forum. i hope i can learn some things here.
i am a London berlesque performer in london, england. it is a fun job and perfect for unwinding after a hard days work on boats.
i hope to find out about making a moving jaw mecanism for a puppet animals head that i wear as a mask onstage to perform my act.
i will look for the forum posts and try to find out about moving mechanisms, i was thinking about using a bicycle brake cable and lever to pull from a pivot points, but i will look for any answers.
i hope you are all well, and if any on you are in london, give me a shout and i will arrange some tickets to one of our shows.
cheers and all the best,
Rex.

Welcome to PandS Rex. You are on the right track with your thinking of a bicycle brake. That is commonly used for something like this. There would be simpler ways but might not give as much control. Actually the cleanest and simplest is to let your jaw control it. In other words the mask fits tight enough to your face that moving your jaw moves the mask jaw.
