Rebuilding a Puppet On BlogTV Posted by Matt on Sep 11, 2009
Over the last couple of months on BlogTV I've been on BlogTV with one of my first puppets. He wasn't well made and has his mouth is really having issues. I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks since I first built this puppet, and I have decided to build a better version. I will be broadcasting the beginning of this build on BlogTV starting today at 2:30pm EST.

You didn't record it?

Thanks for the support!
Sorry I did not record it. Even if I had recorded, it only would have been small parts. I was on for about 5 hours building.

BTW here is first a picture of the original Berg and then the new Berg (minus arms)
Original:
New:
The new puppet features a foam skull, vinyl mouth plate, nice plastic eyes, hand stitching, and antron fleece. All things not present in the old one, which was made using the Paul Louis Muller videos as a guide.

After looking at the mouth board I had no room left to place a tongue. I had over stepped where the fleece should have been meeting the black of the mouth board. To fix this I carefully pulled up some of the fleece and the trimmed away the access. This of course left the hot glue visible, and for a quick fix I used a Sharpie to color the glue black. Not something I would normally due, but for a personal puppet it works just fine. Below is a video showing the result.

Nothing wrong with using a black Sharpie to cover up glue on the mouthplate.....professionals use it all the time.

Poor Berg 2.0 had to go to the dentist.
