I watched some of your other videos.  Very well done. It is amazing what can be portrayed in such a short time.

Shawn,

I agree! The 12second thing is not a lot of time... However, when I originally started thinking about putting videos on Youtube (years ago!) I think I always imagined I had to fill that 10min. time slot or my small ideas became impractical for one person to do for no money... They became epics! They never got made...

The 12sec. time slot forces you to cut back to the bare essentials. It allows you to either shoot a quick concept and get it out there or spend about 20-30 min. shooting and editing a little short, without it becoming a huge production. I find I still shoot too much stuff for 12sec! I'm always dumping shots and really distilling the idea down to just what's needed for a gag. It really helps you realize what's needed and what isn't! The biggest plus is it's helped me shed that slow puppet monolouge stuff in favor of snappy dialouge that moves along (which I like!).

It might not be for everyone, but I do think it's a good exercise in refining ones approach to puppet gags and being able to deliver a punchline or gag before the viewer becomes bored by the set up... Ok, so it panders to the ADD crowd, but everyone seems to be that way now a days!

Bottom line, it helped me to start making puppet videos again and posting them online, without feeing like I was wasting too much time and effort in the process! I'm just having fun!!

Awesome, a new puppet channel to add to my own youtube channel. Great work! It was short, precise and to the point.

Nice work I really like it....I probably be the same with filming to much but you never know when you get the million dollar shot....great concept and somthing that I need to think farther about myself since time is such a factor in my life.

It's certainly worth considering if long videos are what's keeping you from making puppet vids! It's also nice that you can directly upload using your webcam (if you've got that urge to show off a new puppet or a funny gag!)...
