Re: Some help with Ostrich Feathers Posted by BoxGhost on Oct 03, 2009
well, once I'm done with these fraggles, I probably won't work with them again unless absolutely necessary. They're pretty much the most expensive part as far as I'm concerned. I'm going to make my little ghost that is in my avatar next, most likely. She'll be a snap compared to wembley. If I ever finish wembley, that is. still having problems with him.

I have just ordered from TonyHill myself the same feathers that are poted on that link....even though shipping to Canada made me curl up in the fetus position and cry....lol....however I will update on how well they service and there product....I have heard horror stories about people receiving bad and damaged feathers.....so I am hoping they will be of high quality since the prices are high.

I've ordered feathers from Tony Hill on about four occasions, and I've never had a problem. I agree, though, they are quite pricey.
My red feathers should be here on Wednesday, so i can finally (hopefully) finish the pigtails. I'm going to have my husband do the wire structure to hold them, as I do not trust myself. As always, I'll post pics when done! ^_^

You think the shipping prices are high? I ordered from them once, the box got returned to them, and in order for me to get it... i had to pay for a second shipping fee.

Just an update, everyone. I finished this puppet! ^_^ Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been super busy, but it's done!

Very nice! You did a great job. I'm glad you stopped by to show us the finished puppet.
Re: Some help with Ostrich Feathers Posted by BoxGhost on Dec 13, 2009
Thank you very much! You helped me a great deal with this, and I thank you!
I'm sorry it took me so long to post, but things have just been nuts in my life recently. I was in a beta for a video game that was supposed to end in august, but lasted until yesterday, so that's what was eating up most of my time.
I didn't want to leave you guys hanging, as you've helped me so much with my endeavor! I'm taking a little bit of a puppet break for a while (as well as a break from that stupid video game), as that one took me several months to finish, but when I start another project, I'll be sure to pop back in and show you guys my progress.
I've learned so much on these forums, and I thank all of you profusely! ^_^ I could not have completed the puppet without your advice!

WhAt a beautiful job you've done on this fraggle type puppet!!! The feather hair is perfect. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Re: Some help with Ostrich Feathers Posted by BoxGhost on Dec 13, 2009
No problem! I was glad to share it!
And speaking of sharing, I'd like to talk a bit about how I did the hair, just in case someone stumbles upon this and wants to know how I achieved it. ^_^
To do the hair, I actually bought ostrich feather fringe and wrapped it around a ball in various layers. I then pinned it to the ball with pins dipped in glue. It actually seemed surprisingly sturdy, too.
