My newest puppet Posted by Chris Arveson on Oct 05, 2009
Introducing Peter, who will be taking on the title role in Peter and the Wolf. Peter was made from Nice Braga's pattern, at 90% of full size in order to make him smaller than the other "adult" puppets in the play. I tried making him 80% of full size, and couldn't get my hand into his head . To get an idea of the difference in sizes, most of my puppets are pretty comfortable in size 4-T clothing, and Peter is about a 3-6 month size in clothing. He went shopping at Walmart yesterday, but there wasn't anything that wasn't unbearably cute and decorated for a little baby.
He is not yet properly costumed, and is borrowing the shirt from another puppet who doesn't need it, currently. Peter will probably be wearing a traditional Russian "Cossack" style shirt. That shirt will be custom tailored for him, and will hopefully fit his form closely enough to show his body shape.
Although the head is from Nice Braga's pattern (which, by the way, I received with the kit I bought through Billy) the body is from Project Puppet's Simple Series Alternate Body pattern.

All major puppet construction is now done. I have to add legs to the cat and put some new wigs and beards and hats on a couple of puppets, but other than that, this show is almost ready to travel. I will be getting Titere's beautiful backdrop printed later this week, and the soundtrack is nearly done.

Most years, I finish the soundtrack on Christmas day, which is just three days before I leave. It's a little scary, being this far ahead of my usual track.

Great looking puppet! It's also nice to see that patterns from different places can be used together as well =] I love the body pattern as well as the legs and feet pattern from Project Puppet!
