Hello all in the next week or so we will be hosting a competition over at 99 Acre Woods. The premise is you submit designs for a new character to appear in the woods and we have everyone vote on which design they like best. The prise will be I will build the winning design as a detailed tutorial and the winner gets all the videos free. Do you guys think that's something that would be appealing to others?

The next thing we are doing is regarding a segment we have on the show called Buds Blog. Its basically bud talking about his life in the woods and the things he invents. What we want to do is have a segment at the end where Bud can answer video emails. Have people who watch the blog and submit questions or comments to Bud for him to answer. This could be done with puppets or real people. What do you guys think? The characters could heckle him or praise him or whatever.

I think it's a great idea.  I wish I was an artist I would love to enter.  I will look forward to the videos though.  My obvious choice for a puppet would be a female deer.

Both ideas sound like a winner to me Jay.  Well you be looking for just the design of the puppet or are you going to want a back story for them also?  Would the person have to draw the design or could they perhaps supply a composite of images that you could base the puppet off of?  I am just thinking that like Gav a person might have some good ideas but not really be able to submit them in drawings.

Alot of puppeteers have started doing the "video thing" over at blogTV so I think you could get quite a few takers on the second idea.

Thats a good idea Shawn I had not thought of compositing images. I will have to include that in the offical release.

Great idea Jay, I can't wait to see how this goes. You will have to make a video of all the guys and gals in the forest doing a intro about the details of the contest.

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah!!!  We get to impact the 99 Acre Woods.  How cool is that.  Now I have to go back and see what kinds of creatures you already have and get inspired as to what might be a new character to add to the mix. 

Maybe a hyperactive, caffiene over charged spider or a super slow not very smart squril...

That would be fun! I like the idea of a spider, we have some squirriles already but I am really looking forward to what new animal ideas people have!
