A basic shirt pattern Posted by Chris Arveson on Oct 09, 2009
I owe everyone here so very much, for information, tips and tricks, general encouragement, and just plain fun. As a way of offering thanks, I want to offer a pattern for a very basic, no-frills shirt that fits the Project Puppet Alternate Body. In American clothing size it is size 0-3 months.

I developed the pattern for my new Peter puppet when I found that there was absolutely nothing in the stores that could even be altered to work. In that size range everything is so baby-cutesy, which I did not want. So I made my own!  This is just the basic pattern, but you can add collars, buttons, whatever kind of frills you can dream up.

I hope this will be useful to someone.

Great pattern Chris!  He is right folks you can use this basic pattern to make more elaborate shirts if you wanted to.  For example if you wanted it to be a button shirt you could cut a strip of fabric and applica it to the front of the shirt then sew buttons down the front. No real need for it to really work since it is on a puppet.

Thanks Chris for the pattern...it will be useful to all those
using the Brazil kit. Peter looks awesome in his red shirt.

Cheers

Thanks Bhanu. Of course, the shirt isn't limited to just a Brazil kit puppet. I'm now making one in a size 4T (American sizes) that is about 25% bigger than the original pattern.

Thank you very much Chris, I needed this. A question before I cut... do I reduce the size % to the size % that I reduced the alt. body pattern to?
For example if the size of my puppet is reduced to 77% do I reduce your pattern to 77%, just making sure, so I don't waste fabric.
This basic pattern has so many possibilities, thanks again, Chris.

I believe so, Rosie. One possibility would be to cut out the front or back out of paper, and put it up against the puppet and see if it seems to fit.

Ok, Chris, I'll try that and get back to you
