Attaching a different head? Just a quick question this time. Posted by BoxGhost on Oct 13, 2009
Sorry to bother you guys again, but I've got another silly question. ... here goes...

All right, I finally figured out the structure that I'm going to use to attach my red fraggle's pig tails and I got the ostrich feathers. I started looking at my fraggle a little more closely and noticed that the face is completely wrong. I am 100% obsessive compulsive and I need to correct this problem. I know exactly what needs to be done to correct the problem, but this puppet is almost completed... all I really need to do is attach a new head.

So, here's my question.
Can I just rip the old head off and attach a new one, or am I going to have to make a new body all over again?

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I am new to sewing as of July, and I wouldn't know where to begin.

If the answer is "Yes" ... then what would the best way be to attach a new head?

I want to do as little work as possible, because I am completely happy with the rest of the puppet. I've also been working on this thing for months, and it would be a complete shame to have wasted all that time.  :'(

Normally the head and body are separate pieces.  How did you attach the head in the first place. It really shouldn't be that hard to do. Just find a stitch line between the head and body and pull the stitches out.  There are tools called seam rippers that can do this.  You can also use an exacto knife or even small clipper scissors. Once you have that done stitch the new head on.

I just whip stitched it on.
I've got some exacto knives downstairs, I'll try it with those! Thank you!
