Re: Joel, an older puppet Posted by Rosie H on Oct 27, 2009
Life's been kinda crazy this past week, should be a bit of a lull now, hopefully. I would like to finish this test puppet soon. I went back to the store and bought another twenty of those buttons, I saw a whole tub of them, tantalizingly, on the floor behind the counter, after inquiring about their popularity I decided NOT to buy the whole box, lol. Back to work on Joel tomorrow I think. Well, Joel and my brand spanking new Rose Cottage website I'm working on anyway.
BTW, I completely forgot to buy doll joints from the button shop The funny thing is I never use them for my doll making. I use the button joint method, I'm wondering if that would work for puppets... I still have a whole 'giggle of kid puppets' that need to have their arms attached, sigh. Decisions, decisions.
Oh, and... yay! this is my one hundredth post! Boy do I talk a lot.

As a rule if it works for dolls it will work for puppets. Congrats on your 100th post.

Thanks, Shawn
I think I will try the button jointed method.

Here's some shots of Joel, I'm making progress today.
Still lots to do, but I'm happy with him so far, any suggestions would be most welcome.
I think he needs his hair trimming a bit, it looks quite wild, I'll do that at the end I think.
I cut some ears and he still needs eyebrows. Making a template for his eye placement helped a lot.
I'm not sure whether it's the best idea for me to have no 'back' to his nose though. I'll see how it
goes when I stitch it in place, could be tricky with the fiberfill.

The nose will work. I've done the same thing on features. You just have to make sure and tuck in the bits of wild fiber fill from time to time.

A template for eye placement. I am so stupid. What a genius idea!
