Muppet Whatnot Website going up next week (projected date) Posted by Ryuuroden on Oct 21, 2009
Hey, I work at the place that will be making the online order whatnots and I figured I would share this news that the FAO whatnots will be available again for online order probably starting next week.  The site is currently in test phase for a rollout and there is supposed to be a meeting over the details tomorrow.  I believe it will be linked from the Toys R' Us website but I do not know the details on that yet.  Hopefully will find out more info tommorrow from my supervisor  .  BTW the new muppet wear and accessories are pretty bling

Ok I got some more info today.  The website should go up for online ordering on Sunday or Monday October 25th or 26th.  I was told that toys r us or fao website may pre-advertise the fact that they are going to be for sale before the actual ordering site goes up.  When I asked what website it would be linked from I was told it would be from the old FAO site but as I am posting this, I checked that site out and it still has not been activated which is not to say that what I was told isn't true.  Either way, they will be orderable from one of those 2 sites.  The website will allow you to build your muppet by choosing the body type and then you will be able to search through all the various features and drag them onto the body you selected to see what it will look like.  The body components are Eyes/Eyeglasses, Nose, Hair, Clothing/Accesories, Facial Hair.

Apparently they are adding new types of facial hair to give people more options to personalize their muppets.  I also saw pictures of a monster dressed line of muppets but I do not know when that is coming out all I do know is I specifically asked if I was allowed to talk about it and was told it was no problem.  The outfits kinda look like the "Where the Wild Things are" monsters.  I think that there will be somewhere around 20 different types of clothing to chose from as well but I am not sure if it will be all available right away or not.

As it stands right now, you will only be able to order muppets online up until christmas and after that the site will be shut down again.  Last year FAO sold out of all the muppets after the first week of December when they were advertised on a network morning show.  I am pretty sure they are making sure there will be plenty available this year so it does'nt happen again but you never know.  Thats all the info I have right now.

Hey guys, back again.

The website is now up and ordering is now available.  The website is http://www.fao.com/whatnots.  The variety of clothing is available currently online is more limited than if you go to the flagship stores but hopefully as we get closer to christmas more styles are added.

Thanks for the update................ I Love the website, what a genius idea. I played around with some different choices, but hard to decide on a final whatnot.

OOH man ive had whatnots on my mind since i found out they were in new york, unfortunately that was after I had left  They cost more than then the puppets i have built but i consider it a convenience charge, after all, its a customized and complete MUPPET! I would like to have one for christmas but that money has already gone to the Avenue Q tour. Its still a ot of fun to play with the website's muppet maker. PS! I have head from alot of websites that the workshop might expand into Disney magic kindom and Disneyland! so look for them next time youre on vacation
