Meet Gladys :)...a new puppet head Posted by esch on Oct 23, 2009
Hi all ...I was trying to come up with a simple polyfoam head that older students could make and ended up with ole Gladys here
She's made from a single stapled tube of polyfoam, ends are cable-tied and the tube is cut in 2 and both pieces turned. Then both halves are glued onto a mouthboard, and a little trimming in the back for hand access. I cut a slice of pool noodle to use as a thumb guide in the lower jaw.
I experimented with some duct tape as a lid on the ping pong ball halves...impossible to get those wrinkles out, lol.
I still gotta tame her wild hair with a hairnet (they make pink ones maybe? or even blue?) And I want to put on a collar that'll flare out a bit from her lower head..A striped sock doesn't really cut it for her, I think a solid color would be better...how come I can see her with a mink coat?
and yeah, I know I got that mouse to finish...he's almost there, I'll post those pics soon....ellen

She looks great! I love the shape of her head. I think a tiara instead of a hair net would look good especially with that mink coat.

thanks all
Shawn, a tiara would be a cool idea--somethin' she could wear when she goes to Bingo, lol
I'm eager to try some more of this type--she only took a couple of hours to make. I have her husband's Harry's head in my mind already :D

I absolutely love this puppet, so cleverly made, great job! Her hair looks really good, perfect for her age/personality. Well done, Ellen.
