Rumpelstiltskin is My Name! Posted by jlucci on Oct 30, 2009
Hi Friends!!
It's been SOOOO long since I've been around; I was working around the clock to finish this project and barely had time to sleep and eat!
Anywho, I hope everyone's doing well!
I wanted to share this project with you all, because I feel very accomplished after completing it--and know this community will appreciate it!
The school where I study Musical Theatre, Shenandoah Conservatory, is doing a children's theatre production of the play "Rumpelstiltskin is My Name" and the director had a vision to make the title character a puppet to emphasize his different physical state.
I was asked to build the puppet, and also perform it. While I almost ended up in the mental hospital, I was extremely happy with the outcome!
Rumpy, as I've termed him, is a full bodied 5' tall-two person puppet. He features blinking eyes, live hands, and changeable features (nose, ears, and moles!)
I've uploaded production photos to my gallery for you to check out!
I heavily documented the construction phase, and plan on elaborating upon it in my blog.
I hope you enjoy!

Great puppet. I love large puppets. Costume fits great with the face and character.

you have very good reason to be proud of what you have done. Such a wonderful puppet. And the rest of the production looked just as well put together. Do you have any video that you could post. Even if it's not the entire production it would be great to see you and Rumpy in action.
