Holloween Costumes Posted by jomama on Nov 04, 2009
Thought you might like to see the Halloween costumes that my daughter asked me to build for her and her friends. They hosted a Halloween party and decided to go as a group. Too funny. Anyway, enjoy. My daughter is the one in blue.

I made the shells out of 1/2 inch and 1 inch foam and spray painted them to look like shells. She took them back to Virginia with her and fit them to the girls.

Cool! How did you keep the shape of the back shell?  Is there a 1" foam support that rest against their back?

The back shell keeps it's shape because of the design. The back is 1" foam without any other support. The front is 1/2" foam. The shells are connected at the shoulders and one side. The other side has velcro on the front and back shell to hold them together. I did them this way to make it easy to put the shells on. They were just so much fun to make, but if I had more time I could have done a much better job. I had about two weeks to come up with a design and build them. This on top of building, writing, filming for an upcoming production.  I told them to decide early what they wanted to do next year and I would do a much better job for them.

My daughter said their costumes were by far the favorite of the 80 that were at their party.
